Yeah, we don’t need life imitating art. Especially when the art in this case is largely a feverish fantasy and an exercise of wish fulfillment.
Apparently the movie doesn’t reference the black and white smoke. It’s a pretty big thing to miss for a blockbuster movie about the election of the Pope.

They would have been better to watch Alexander VI election in the Showtime mini-series. At least it bore some resemblance to historical fact.
