Yesterday’s homily touched upon a great truth. What IS YOUR pick, heavenly Father?
Let your will be done.
“That could be more Pope Chastisement.”
If the Father wishes for PF 2 then bring it on.
“Our pick is unimportant.
God’s will be done.”
This is from our orthodox Priest who is allowed to celebrate the traditional Latin Mass in our diocese. Not what you might think you would hear from our parish, but he is spot on.
To wish anything other than what God wants is unacceptable.
Was fond of John Paul, but do not think he would be optimal at this time.
I agree with Art, JP2 did not have the mean streak I believe the next true Vicar of Christ will need, i.e., the “turn over the money changers’ tables” sort of streak.
I’m hoping for a stick-in-the-mud who speaks deliberately, offers clear and concise homilies derived from the day’s readings, reduces head count in the Vatican, simplifies the Holy See’s finances and property holdings, publishes audited financial statements, spends a great deal of time in meditation and prayer, and scans the dossiers of candidates for the episcopacy meticulously. It would also be agreeable if the Holy See’s tribunals weren’t tripping over their hems. NB, Benedict supposedly told a visitor “my authority extends to that door”. John Paul I was by some accounts found weeping in the Vatican gardens consequent to the paperwork dumped on his desk. Both are indicators that the subject was not an ace selection for the position he held.
This has been my desire too. No more rock stars, no more airplane interviews. A simple, yet holy man who has major stones.
I can dream, right? But, as the Lord said…”not my will, but Your Will”
As much as I admired St. John Paul II, no, not someone like him. He did not have a mean bone in his body. We need someone who will grab the Francis leftovers by the back of their collars and toss them out on their backsides.
