House of Mouse Can Still Be Funny

When Mickey stops in front of a portrait of Walt Disney it almost seemed a “Forgive us for we have wandered from your path” moment.

What impresses you about Walt Disney when you read sketches of him is what a decent human being he was; not what you’d expect of a motion picture mogul. (Recalling the speculation that screenwriters commonly depict corporate business as very corrupt because they work for motion picture studios, which are very corrupt).

The grossness of the current regime at Disney would appear to be a manifestation of the preferences of one Robert Iger, who has run the studio for about twenty years. He in turn was a protege of the previous studio boss, Michael Eisner. The place was taken over by Hollywood vermin 40 years ago, though its taken some time for their essential grossness to be made manifest.

Thanks for posting The short brought back memories. I watched it without the sound. Now that Trump is in office again, I hope new Disney films will return to what Walt had in mind at the start.

“Lightyear” and “Strange World” lost $100mill for Disney. Both had LGBTQ themes.

Although the studio would have liked to have blamed the post-Covid world for the decline in box office sales, movies like “Minions-The Rise of Gru” made money for the “Illumination” studio.

So it wasn’t families staying away from animation. Families were turned off the Disney animations which had themes of sexuality. I think I read that in 2023, the previous 8 Disney releases lost around $900mill for the studio. People don’t want that stuff. Especially for their kids.

The good news is that Kathleen Kennedy, the uber-Woke executive who single handedly destroyed Star Wars, the Marvel Comics Universe, and nearly every other IP the company owns, is leaving soon. The bad news is that, barring a major shareholder revolt, she likely will be replaced by another just like her. Most of the Hollywood Woke still think the problem is us, not them.
