Power without responsibility – the prerogative of the harlot throughout the ages.”

As a submarine sailor, I have never ever met a harlot who was like Pope Francis: hypocritical, mean, hateful, spiteful, and vindictive. Every single one gave good measure for her hire, and never ever insulted, demeaned, or criticized her cliental, or otherwise dominated them (unless of course I had a special request. 😉 Ha! Ha!). I’ll take an honest whore any day over that heretical Marxist Peronist Caudillo. May God Almighty depose and anathematize him and all his works.

Although I agree the pope is getting in way over his head with regard to U.S. immigration policy, I have to ask whether comparing Vatican “immigration policy” to U.S. immigration policy isn’t an apples-to-oranges analogy. The penalties for “illegal entry” appear to be aimed more at potential terrorists than anything else — note the additional penalties for carrying weapons, using vehicles or wearing disguises.

Also, is it even possible to “immigrate” to the Vatican City State? Does anyone other than the pope actually have citizenship there? I would think that the members of his household and of the Curia and the various dicasteries would be either Italian citizens or citizens of the countries they came from.

Elaine, as I understand it, citizenship in the Vatican city-state is conferred only by virtue of having an official position, either as a cleric or as a secular employee.

Since the Swiss Guards have barracks and quarters in the Vatican, I would guess that the Swiss Guards have dual citizenship – Swiss and Vatican City.

Family lore is that there is an ancestor who was a Swiss Guard. My great, great grandmother was very proud of him. She also told stories of her family hiding priests from the violent followers of heretic priest Ulrich Zwingli. That would have been c.1519. Great, great grandmother Mary Regina Kestler Glotzbach had a good memory.

BTW there is a hard bound Swiss Guard Vatican Cookbook which has tasty recipes.

So much virtue signaling so little common sense.
A country without borders is not a country.

But it’s the gaslighting that really steals the day:
“Anyone that is against illegal entry is a hater of immigrants.”
Second only to the hypocrisy… Jail time, not deportation for anyone illegally entering the Vatican State.

Areas in the US where the concentration of illegal immigration was high would have definitely felt a squeeze on infrastructure and the ability for that municipality or district to cater for the population. This is another reason why good solid immigration policies are important. Taxes from citizens are paying for the illegals that drifted in unannounced and covertly. Surely this reduces the quality of life for everyone. Surely this is a logical and sensible case to crack down on illegal immigration.

IMO for the Pope to lecture the US on its immigration policy is somewhat like lecturing a woman (or man) who is in the process of divorcing a dangerously abusive and/or criminal spouse on the sanctity of marriage. Yes, the basic moral principles still apply but there are times when the physical and moral safety of the family (or nation) has to be the first priority.
