PopeWatch: Crappy Song

Go here to read the story.  Crappy song;  crappier message.  Supposedly it was performed at the funeral because it was one of Jimmy Carter’s  favorite songs.  De mortuis nihil nisi bonum so Popewatch will pass in silence the musical taste, or lack thereof, of our late President.  However, the restraint of PopeWatch does not apply to you dear reader.

It always showed the stunning lack of self awareness of that generation’s activism, as well as its preference for a ‘words speak louder than actions’ ethic. If you’re going to take the high ground and invite the world to join you in imagining no possessions, don’t do it from the middle of your vast, sprawling multi-million dollar English estate. Though I admit, the music was pretty.

Josh – that’s what comes to mind when
I hear that song. Forrest Gump. John Lennon was a complicated individual. I hope he is now realising that imagining a world without our God is the abyss.

No clue why it was performed. My speculation would be that it was selected by his children.
