Brilliant choice if true. DeSantis is the best administrator in the Republican party.  DeSantis is term limited as Governor of Florida and he served five years as a Navy JAG officer and deployed to Iraq as legal advisor to Seal Team One.
DeSantis for Secretary of Defense?

Cradle Catholic. Active in the pro-life movement since 1973. Father of three, one in Heaven, and happily married for 43 years. Small town lawyer and amateur historian. Former president of the board of directors of the local crisis pregnancy center for a decade.
DeSantis was JAG advisor to SEAL Team One, not Six.
DeSantis is far and away the best administrator in the party. As long as he limits his camera time, I agree he’d do well as Sec Def. I also think if he serves as Sec Def under a second Trump Administration, it dashes his chances for a 2028 run, considering Vance will probably run and Trump will more than likely throw his weight around Vance.
I could see him as Vance’s Veep Greg. After eight years of Vance, DeSantis would only be 58. Thanks for catching my error as to the Seal Team. Corrected.
“Hegseth, facing scrutiny over past allegations, may step aside….”
I wonder if while in the Army during the Iraq and Afghanistan conflicts Hegseth did anything worse than what I did as a whoring drunken submarine sailor.
However, if you’re a Ted Kennedy and a dead girl shows up in your car that you ran off a bridge into a pond, then that’s ok. If you’re a Hunter Biden with a cocaine and sex addiction problem, then count on a pardon. But if you’re Peter Hegseth with a Jerusalem Cross tatooed on your chest and Deus Vult on your arm, then you’re a woman-abusing white supremacist sex maniac.
I really don’t see a future DeSantis presidency. He doesn’t have the stage presence for it nor does he seem to understand the importance of optics on national or world stage. Vance didn’t look all that good in very early part of the campaign but improved quickly. DeSantis doesn’t come across as very teachable in that regard. But time will tell.
By the way, I never saw Hegseth as all that good of a Sec Def candidate.
He would be a good choice, only downside is that Florida would lose a great governor and those are very hard to come by….
A far superior pick, IMHO.
Elaine, DeSantis will be in his last years of his final term. He’s pretty much a lame duck at this point. That’s actually a win-win, paving the way for a worthy successor.
Trump must really want his daughter-in-law to get that free Senate seat
I would happily support Mr. DeSantis as Secretary of Defense. He has not only earned a position in the President’s cabinet, but he is a man who would be taken seriously at home and abroad in this position – and I think we could use a little more credibility worldwide.
