Trump Speech

The Trump speech.  The first half focusing on the assassination was riveting.  His heartfelt tribute to Corey Comperatore, who lost his life acting as a human shield for his wife and two daughters, was heartfelt and moving.  The rest of the speech was anti-climatic and too long at an hour and a half.  Half could have been cut with little of substance lost.  Trump’s style of speech was conversational and relaxed.  I do think that the fact that his life was almost taken from him has produced a more reflective Trump.  He attributes his survival to God for His purposes, and who among mortals can say he is wrong?  The substance was classic Trump, but less bombastic.  Overall, I found the change in Trump appealing.  Whether it will last is anyone’s guess, but right now it is effective.

Correct about the length. Listeners today of almost any sort of presentation are used to brevity and getting to the point. Before today’s rapid communication, speakers such as Edward Everett were appreciated for their lengthy orations but that time has long passed.

Listened to it. Not a tight, stylized speech. More like passing time on a hot, Southern evening. With a little beer and fried fish or chicken. Add a biscuit and some rice or mashed potatoes. Your choice.

Not bad.
