PopeWatch: Rupnik

Go here to read the story.  On Rupnik, the Pope dropped the mask and decided to stand behind this member of Team Francis, no matter what anyone else says.  All this for bad bug eyed art produced by a sexual predator of nuns.  The principal behind this is the one that a Mafia member would readily understand:  you stand behind a member of the gang against the world, although even a Mafia member might be outraged at what Rupnik did to nuns, which would put our hypothetical Mafia member, on that point, ahead of the Pope.  Heckuva job Conclave of 2013, heckuva job.

These men called “fathers” are again grossly obtuse when compared these abused women’s earthly fathers and their Heavenly Father.

Does the bug-eyed creator have something on the man in white?

btw …..Has there been a completed investigation as to the complaints by the victims, or is it stalled out? Convenient for Ruppie if these alleged activities never get to the court.

( I haven’t checked it out…but I will now. )

From the Jesuits America publication;

October
The D.D.F. decides it is not able to process those allegations because the events occurred beyond what is known in canon law as “the prescribed time,” commonly called the statute of limitations in civil law. In canon law, there is a 20-year window allowed for the reporting of abuse by an adult.

That 20-year limit is often waived in abuse cases, but it was not in this case. Pope Francis, when asked about this decision by The Associated Press, denied having been involved in Father Rupnik’s case except to intervene procedurally to ensure that the second set of accusations from the nine women of the Loyola Community was assigned to the same Vatican tribunal that had heard the first set of accusations, regarding the abuse of the sacrament of confession, against him. He also said in that interview that he does not generally waive the statute of limitations on cases involving the abuse of adults who are not considered “vulnerable.”

Sad.
The victims are not given justice.
Not here anyway.

As for the Pope and his support?

Well. It’s obvious who he supports.

To heck with the nuns.

Will we soon be urged by the Vatican to rejoice in the new blessings suggested for those who molest nuns?

Philip:
I get you, but as a practical matter I doubt anyone as public (and with as many enemies) as Pope Francis could have kept a personal “something” hidden this long. Too many spears poking in that haywagon to have missed a body.

There are Rupnik mosaics by the front doors of the Lourdes Church. From Catholic News Agency dtd Feb 5, 2024: Bishop Micas of Lourdes andTarbes has received many, many complaints asking for those mosaics to be removed. Letters from all over the world and will make a decision by spring.
It’s almost July now.

Unbelieveable that quote from Francis on Rupniks alleged abuse of the nuns. Their complaints should have been handled by civil authorities. The pope makes it sound that Rupniks abuse wasn’t a crime.

Is the Pope’s comment a message to gays that it’s not abuse if the victim is of age??? Does that translate to it’s not a sin; it’s ok for same sex relations?

I believe PF is a misogynist. For him to not act on the abuse of nuns shows that…he is a misogynist. Because he does not value grown women who are in a consecrated vocation to be of any worth. Yes, maybe Rupnik has dirt on him, but I can’t think of any other explanation other than PF has a prejudice towards females.

Thank you Tom.
Your right…
I was wondering out loud…
a bad habit on social media I suppose.

The nuns are closer to Christ than many a religious artist. Closer because of their cross being united so closely to Christ’s.

God bless them.

….abuse of adults who are not considered “vulnerable”

That is infuriating.
