The Saint Michael prayer should be said at every Mass, and every church needs a plan as to what to do in this type of situation. Bravo to the alert and brave parishioners.

It will be interesting to see how the media covers this, and if they don’t -that will be interesting too.

I just shared this with our Head usher at Church.
We already have been taking precautions, Leaving one usher near the front doors, locking the back doors after Mass starts, and two ushers who carry concealed weapons.
This footage is a reminder that we need to stay diligent about our protocols.
Thanks for forwarding this along.
It might just save a life or two.

Frightening. I googled the story- did they find out who the teen suspect was and why he wanted to shoot inside the Church? Motive is everything, even if he is crazed and a lone wolf. I’m thinking Islamic terrorism will soon be on the rise unfortunately…

So, will we stop live streaming Mass before or after one of these evil influenced individuals figures out they can be seen live as they commit deranged murder?
TV isn’t the same as being there in person, thus there is very little to be gained by live streaming and rather a lot to risk.

Our resident priest was stationed near Quantico and the FBI Academy. Through his contacts we’ve had several lectures by retired law enforcement on how to handle intruders, violent and otherwise; what is the best insurance for concealed carry and other practical tips. There are cameras throughout the church. Don’t know if the diocese mandated that or not. Often there is an armed, uniformed deputy at Sunday Mass. During the week a deputy passes through the church campus at random times. On the southern end of the peninsula there was a series of church robberies. The culprit was taken into custody where upon he confessed to 17 church robberies. The rectory and church office is alarmed.
