Give Them Hope

Hope violated his crying rule one time.  He was visiting a hospital during World War II and was talking close to a soldier in a coma.  The soldier opened his eyes, looked at Hope and said, Bob Hope!  When did you get here?  Hope quickly excused himself, went out side and bawled his eyes out.  He then went back inside and presented the soldier with jokes and a purple heart.  Hope and Roonie starred together in an Army service comedy about M.P.’s Off Limits (1953):

It’s hard to hold back a tear while reading that account of the man in the coma. HOPE is anchored in the Sacred Heart. Bob got a dose of that reality. Always Hope, especially when there’s no logical reason to do so.

What a beautiful story!
I never get tired of your posts honoring our service men and veterans. I always get a little choked up. This time, though, I got a lot choked up.
