Long May She Wave!

News that I missed, courtesy of The Babylon Bee:

CHAPEL HILL, NC — The American flag was defended from crazed protesters by a group of University of North Carolina fraternity brothers who have now been identified as Dylan, Dylan, Dylan, and Dylan.

After feeling that their message of hating Israel and America was going unheeded, the pro-terrorist protesters on campus decided to do something that would make Americans more sympathetic to their demands: take down the American flag. That was when heroes Dylan, Dylan, Dylan, and Dylan decided to step in and put a stop to this assault on the nation’s symbol of freedom.

“We’re not heroes, bro, ” said Dylan as he changed into a new pastel-colored shirt. “We were just doing what any red-blooded American would do when the Stars and Stripes are under attack.”

“Those loafer-wearing guys with swoop haircuts protected Old Glory?” asked local mechanic Ben Johnson when told about the heroics of Dylan, Dylan, Dylan, and Dylan. “I never thought I’d say this about any man wearing Lacoste, but we need more Dylans in this country.”

Go here to read the rest.  As a former Dorm Mouse, I never thought I would salute a pack of Frat Rats, but there it is.  I might even regret my role in organizing the great retaliatory snow ball raid of 76 where my dorm, Weston Hall, turned a neighboring fraternity white on its outside.  (Quantity has a quality all its own.)

I AM THE FLAG
I am the flag of the United States of America.

My name is Old Glory.
I fly atop the world’s tallest buildings.
I stand watch in America’s halls of justice.
I fly majestically over institutions of learning.
I stand guard with power in the world.
Look up and see me.

I stand for peace, honor, truth and justice.
I stand for freedom. I am confident.
I am arrogant. I am proud.
When I am flown with my fellow banners,
My head is a little higher,
My colors a little truer.
I bow to no one!
I am recognized all over the world.
I am worshipped – I am saluted.
I am loved – I am revered.
I am respected – I am feared.

I have fought in every battle of every war for more than 200 years.
I was flown at Valley Forge, Gettysburg, Shiloh and Appamatox.
I was there at San Juan Hill, the trenches of France, in the Argonne Forest, Anzio, Rome and the beaches of Normandy.
Guam, Okinawa, Korea and KheSan, Saigon, Vietnam know me.
I was there. I led my troops.
I was dirty, battleworn and tired,
but my soldiers cheered me and I was proud.

I have been burned, torn and trampled on the streets of countries
I have helped set free. It does not hurt for I am invincible.
I have been soiled upon, burned, torn and trampled in the streets of my country.
And when it’s done by those whom I’ve served in battle – it hurts.
But I shall overcome – for I am strong.
I have slipped the bonds of earth and
stood watch over the uncharted frontiers of space from my vantage point on the moon.
I have born silent witness to all of America’s finest hours.
But my finest hours are yet to come.
When I am torn into strips and used as bandages for my wounded comrades on the battle field,
when I am flown at halfmast to honor my soldier,
or when I lie in the trembling arms of a grieving parent at the grave of their fallen son or daughter,

I am proud.
I am the flag of the United States of America.

Good on them – sometimes the only language the left understands is retaliation. God Bless them.

I’m surprised that the wokies who run GoFundMe have allowed this to occur. I would also suggest to the GOP establishment that they realize how much these kids represent ordinary Americans of all ages and ethnicities. Failure to make patriotism a major component of this year’s campaign could be fatal to any chances of victory in November, by which I mean the White House and both houses of Congress. I hope they are paying attention.

Almost a waste of time which explains why Trump is so successful with conservatives even though he has some significantly non-conservative ideas. The GOP establishment reminds me of some the battered women that I see at our local domestic abuse shelter. They’ve been so battered by the press they spend all of their time attempting to avoid the next beating or saying “Please sir, may I have another…”

I agree Frank, kinda like the missed opportunity we had with parental rights in 2022.

Fox news has this quote
Guillermo Estrada, class of 2027, said in a Tuesday post on X. “When I walked to class, I saw the Palestinian flag raised on our quad flag pole, and was immediately upset at the act that these ‘protestors’ had made. I cannot say I am fully educated on the Israel/Palestine conflict but it upset me that my country’s flag was disrespected in order to advocate for another.”

Character because of or in spite of college education? You decide.

— Now that’s funny! Nice how you turned that Stalin quote around!
