My mother made my family life a living musical. This was one of her favorites, along with the Good Morning song from Singing in the Rain.
A few years ago when I was working evenings with kids at an inpatient facility, I took a morning shift. Without even thinking about it as the kids were waking up I was signing those two songs. I remember everyone looking at me funny and then I’m pretty sure my face turned a beet red, because I realized what I was doing.
Apparently though, I had a habit of just singing or humming as I was doing the unit chores during the night. Luckily for everyone I have my Mom’s voice, and not my Dads.
Miss you Mom.
