Holy Nuns Can Make Catholics Out of Anything

I miss the nuns in habits. Their uniform engendered respect even from non Catholics. The plain clothes nuns just are not the same.
Amen, CAM. And priests running around in golf shirts and khakis, same thing. The good news is that the growing orders (assuming they can evade the Bergoglian wrecking ball) are wearing full habits and not just living in monasteries, but active in the communities where they serve, where the habit is a very effective advertisement. Same with many younger priests, who as documented here have aroused the ire of our Man in White for having the temerity to dress like, well, priests.
Bing Crosby played at priest? He would be cancelled for that today. Will be looking up that movie to watch. Thanks for sharing this Don.
Other movies where der Bingster played a priest:

More than once too. Brilliant. I’ll be looking where I can watch these on an Australian streaming service. Thank you Don!
I heartily recommend Going My Way. Superficially, it might seem like some “corny old movie,” with a sentimentalized view of parish life. That is not the case. There are some extremely true-to-life moments in that movie, and for priests like me who have known something of traditional priestly life, it is very moving. It was also surprisingly earthy at certain moments, like Bing’s line: “And they gave you the bird.”
Amen, Father. Both Going My Way and the Bells of St. Mary’s are on our watch list, usually just after Epiphany.
