Lincoln would lose that race, but he would win the next time. He lived in a long winded time, but Lincoln always had a talent for expressing himself concisely. It is an overlooked virtue we could use much more of.

Anyone who writes for a living will tell you that using fewer words is harder, but also more impactful. That’s because you’re forced to think before you commit pen to paper. Or open your mouth. Compare the great communicator with the verbal diarrhea of politicians today.. Some more diarrhea than others.
