Burn of the Day

Donald R. McClarey
Cradle Catholic. Active in the pro-life movement since 1973. Father of three, one in Heaven, and happily married for 43 years. Small town lawyer and amateur historian. Former president of the board of directors of the local crisis pregnancy center for a decade.
A part of the first reading for today;
My son, take care of your father when he is old;
grieve him not as long as he lives.
Even if his mind fail, be considerate of him;
revile him not all the days of his life;
kindness to a father will not be forgotten,
firmly planted against the debt of your sins.
It’s been difficult to look upon Francis as PaPa.
As Holy Father.
For all the imperfections of St. Pope JPII he still rose to meet the challenges of the day in ways that a Holy father would exhibit. In the face of a communist Poland, even though that was prior to his office as Pope, but that strength and humility exuded from the man.
Is it bad to compare?
I suppose that it isn’t.
An old saying is that you don’t pick your family members. True for the most part, but in the case of the Francis elder brothers did pick him.
What does that say about the future of the Church?
May God bless his Holy Catholic Church and may we continue to be His holy bride in good weather or bad.
I liked B XVI. I truly did and do. But I think you’re right, Donald. He fled from the wolves instead of beating them with his crozier. Intellect without courage is useless, and courage without intellect is foolish. God have mercy on His Holy Church.
He was disappointed? Well, at least I’m in good company.
My pipe dreams for 2024 are several, but near the top of the list is a mea culpa from at least some of the simps with red hats who fell for the Bergoglio/St Gallen snake oil sales pitch and elected this kidney stone. Someone like, oh, say, Dolan of NY, or DiNardo of Houston, or any of the other supposed conservatives who caved in to this crowd at the 2013 conclave. They were either fools or mendacious. I prefer to assume the former.
Frank-
Dolan is no conservative and a very poor bishop. Languished under his authority for years before I had the good sense to abandon that diocese to its own devices. Please pray for the remaining faithful under his care.
I think Benedict was not supposed to resign. A largely incapacitated pope is far superior to an active one pursuing the wrong activities.
Perfect, Donald. I struggle to have partience with Benedict XVI.
