This is either rubbing salt in the wound, or the Vatican fears the turnout whenever the Bishop says Mass in his old Diocese.
Update:
The Diocese is now engaging in the traditional defense of the indefensible: weasel words:
But The Pillar confirmed Thursday that in a meeting of diocesan staff and clergy, Vasquez explained that Strickland had been asked to temporarily limit his public presence in the diocese, including the celebration of public Masses, amid a transition that has proven difficult for some east Texas Catholics.
One Catholic present at the meeting said that Strickland had been “encouraged” to temporarily refrain from offering Mass in the Tyler diocese.
Go here to read the rest. A distinction without a difference. If the Bishop did not obey the request, rest assured it would swiftly become an order, with the Bishop incurring sanctions from the Vatican. The Vatican fears the support of Strickland among the Faithful.

It is time to openly disobey that heretical Marxist Peronist Caudillo. He is unworthy of the Seat of Saint Peter.
LQC- disobey- yes absolutely. Strickland is still a priest, he has done nothing to betray his vocation. He should defy the “recommendation” and celebrate the Holy Mass, and I bet people will come in droves.
Strickland is still a bishop which is why they never, hardly ever, dismissed Bishops. They are successors to apostles and can continue making priests etc
This will be interesting bc the faithful hear his voice and follow Him
What great fruits would flourish from Bishop Strickland obeying the unjustified request?
We would never know. Bishop Strickland would not benefit from submission to authority.
There are benefits and graces from it and I would not be surprised one iota if he did just that.
Defiance in this obvious injustice against him gains him what exactly?
But submission to do the humble work can and will move mountains.
•••convert hardened hearts too•••
At any moment Christ could of sent myriads of angels to slay the Roman soldiers who were ripping him apart at the scourging…but Christ took upon himself the work of humility…and the world changed for the better, forever.
Death lost. Love wins.
I hope Strickland will treat the “request” in the same way he treated the “request” to resign.
Force tyrants to show their tyranny. It pushes people off the fence.
For all his lectures about how ‘clericalism’ is wrong, Francis has no problem pulling rank to get his way; ignoring Canon Law, due process, and basic justice.
For all his lip service to ‘collegiality’, Francis has no problem reducing bishops from Successors of the Apostles to middle managers who can be fired for any reason. Or, in the case of Bishop Strickland, for no stated reason at all.
It was God Himself Who made bishops to be the Successors of the Apostles. Dismissing a bishop is a serious enterprise, and doing it without grave reason and without due process degrades the dignity God gave the office. It is an impious act.
I’m disgusted with Francis’ actions— and not just because Bishop Strickland is orthodox. Francis would be just as wrong to behave this way with any notorious lefty bishop (not that Francis ever would).
Under Francis’ reign, the Code of Canon Law has been reduced to the Code of Canon Suggestions. Bishops have been reduced to mere slaves without rights. This pontificate is quickly going to a very dark place.
Matthew 11
28Come to me all you that labor and are burdened, and I will refresh you. 29Take up my yoke upon you, and learn of me, because I am meek, and humble of heart: And you shall find rest to your souls. 30For my yoke is sweet and my burden light.
St. Maximilian Kolbe was ready.
Many many Saints were prepared to face martyrdom with that sweet and light yoke.
Months ago I stated that those within the Church are going through a chastisement. Unusual at it sounds…even from the very hands of those who are to be imitators of Christ the scourging will come. It’s upon us.
Now, and in the months to follow, religious will have to go all in, or run away on Good Friday.
Bishop Strickland, Cardinal Burke and a few others have spoken for the Holy Church and it’s faithful. Reprisals are tangible now.
Now comes the offering.
St. Maximilian Kolbe imitated Christ in such perfection that Kolbe’s offering is still fruitful to this day.
Strickland has that chance too.
Bishop Strickland’s choice right now might look like weakness to the masses, but could result in the strength of the Holy Cross.
Please don’t underestimate the power of meekness and humility. St Padre Pio suffered from similar persecutions by his superiors…and obedience became a source of great grace for countless souls. He attested to it.
Meanwhile, the pontiff allows Jean-Pierre Cardinal Ricard to keep his status and privileges as a cardinal, including a residence.
Despite Ricard’s admitted rape of a 14 year old girl.
It tracks.
Catholic Vote is reporting that Bp. Strickland told them he has “received no such instruction.” Interesting.

The mean nasties in the Vatican hate the Roman Catholic faith and those who uphold it, or worse yet, preach it.
