The Pope, among his many hates, hates Americans, hates conservatives and hates traditional Catholicism. For him Strickland was a threefer.
Thought For The Day
- Donald R. McClarey
Donald R. McClarey
Cradle Catholic. Active in the pro-life movement since 1973. Father of three, one in Heaven, and happily married for 43 years. Small town lawyer and amateur historian. Former president of the board of directors of the local crisis pregnancy center for a decade.
Francis clearly could not care less what the bishops think. That’s his idea of collegiality: “Shut up and do as you’re told— or else”.
I’m guessing there are not a few bishops and Cardinals who secretly cannot wait for the next conclave.
Someone whose leadership style is “shut up and do as you’re told”, ie. Dictators, are lazy leaders. Dictators don’t possess the emotional intelligence needed in leadership to understand how people think in order to influence them. Also patience. Patience is another trait lacking in Dictators.
Think too: that he really hates anyone who questions his authority over All as Dictator.
It is very interesting how much hate he has for traditional Catholics and at the same time, the FBI was caught targeting them.
The man is worse than bad
This is not a duck and cover moment.
This is a time at the risk of his own removal at least one bishop should stand up and say loudly this is scandalous in its appearance of arbitrary behavior unbecoming the vicar of Christ.
None will. You watch. Another ignorable dubia, perhaps a podcast.
Can none of these men afford the airfare to Rome? At this point I’ll buy the ticket.
Any wonder why traditional Catholics increasingly give the middle finger to the annual bishop appeal ?
The crosier is a whacking stick to use on behalf of the faithful. Use it.
Decades ago, my family was affected by one Bp. Strickland’s Vatican appointed investigators, who at the time was my brother’s high school principal. My parents, who were very involved in our schools, were called in to a conference that was actually a notification that my brother was being ” invited” to leave immediately. Never had any disciplinary issues come up before. But suddenly he’s being expelled for reasons that didn’t add up.(And may have had to do with a larger cover-up.)An older priest was present to witness the meeting and he sat shaking his head and saying, “This is very wrong ”
Outcome: my brother enrolled in the local public school and spent much of his senior year drunk and stoned. He completely washed his hands of the Church. His explanation: “All priests are hypocrites ” He fell in love with a wonderful young woman, straightened out, started his own business. Three months after marrying the love of his life, he was killed by a reckless driver at age 25.
I think my parents were always mad at themselves for not being stronger advocates for him, but this was the late ’70’s. Who knew how to go up against the Church?
When I heard who was looking into the Bishop, I thought: Okay, the fix is in.
Icefalcon.
My heartfelt condolences to you and your family.
Many parents couldn’t believe what their sons or daughters had to say regarding the behaviors of Fr. Diddle and or persons in authority that lust after children.
Heartbreaking.
Bishop Strickland never had a chance…but it’s far from over.
This is why in Ezekiel chapters 8 through 11 God decimated the 1st Temple clerical hierarchy. God is the same yesterday, today and tomorrow. The USCCB and the Vatican had better beware lest the same happen to them.

I’ve looked up the fellow who was my high school principal in that era. He is still alive. He is 89 years old. His predecessor and his successor are deceased.
Icefalcon- that’s shameful. I’m sorry this happened to your brother.
Bishop Dennis Sullivan and Bishop Gerald Kicanas- both appointed to investigate Strickland. Both progressives left and both with their own fair share of controversies with managing dioceses money and handling of sexual abuse cases in the Church.
Sullivan lives in a 5 bedroom mansion in his diocese. The Diocese has declared bankruptcy due to more than $8mill payout to abuse victims. When Bishop of Virginia he reinstated a Fr Leonard to a Parish even after sexual abuse allegations were made against him regarding High school students.

Kicana knew about sexual abuse allegation against a seminarian Daniel McCormack but allowed his ordination anyway. Kicana knew about sexual abuse allegation against a diocese priest Russ Romano and did nothing about it. He presided over Dioceses who have filed Bankruptcy due to the pressure of sexual abuse victim payouts.
Who has investigated Sullivan and Kicana?
In the meantime, Catholic News Agency said this about Bishop Strickland:
Strickland’s tenure has also coincided with positive signs of spiritual and administrative health in Tyler. Currently, 21 men are in priestly formation for the territory of only 55,000 Catholics, a rate of seminarians-per-Catholic considerably higher than most other U.S. dioceses. The diocese is also reportedly in good financial shape, exemplified in part by the its ability to raise 99% of its $2.3 million goal for the 2021 bishop’s appeal six months ahead of schedule.
