Hamas has said that they love death more than their enemies love life. Surely even someone as dim as Tony Annett would eventually realize that you cannot change people like that by throwing piles of other people’s money at them.
You mean the $2B annually wasn’t enough economic aid?
No it doesn’t need development money. It needs Christ our Lord. As does the rest of a sinful world.
Faithful has the only honest answer.
He is the solution that will have the ended this centuries long problem. Only Christ Jesus will solve the conflict.

This prime strip of land sits on the beautiful Mediterranean Sea. So if you think about it, Israel handed the Palestinians prime land on the Mediterranean coast and they still managed to allow a Terrorist organisation to run it into the ground, economically, and reduce it into a pile of rubble.
The United Nations Relief and Works Agency has been pumping money into its client populations since 1949. I seem to recall a datum from a few years back to the effect that fully half the household income in Gaza came from UNRWA doles and the territory’s labor market was strictly spot. NB, Europe had a displaced persons issue in 1945 an order of magnitude larger than that which erupted in the Near East in 1947-49. The displaced persons camps in Europe were all shut down by 1959. Their counterparts in the Near East shouldn’t have lasted more than a few years after that.
NB, per capita product in the West Bank and Gaza is half what it is in Jordan, 40% lower than that in Lebanon (which suffered a 15 year long civil war), and 60% lower than that in Egypt. Heckuva job, UNRWA
there was a post on TAC a few days ago that noted HAMAS killed the daughter of a Jewish industrialist who had set up installations north of Gaza and on the West Bank that gave jobs to Arabs living in Gaza. (I refuse to use the term Palestine or Palestinians..there was no Palestine other than a creation after World War 1 and there are no Palestinians.) So much for offering development to Muslims living in Gaza. But yet we should “Love your enemy.”

Bob – I understand where you are coming from when you say you refuse to refer to them other than Arabs. It doesn’t matter how recent the term “Palestinians” came about. Having an identity and sense of belonging is a human right. Every person on earth yearns for an identity. When you have a people with no identity they end up looking for one and consequently creating problems for citizens of neighbouring countries. They go searching for it by force next door or anywhere they can in order for them to establish one, or in the case of the Palestinians, take one by force. Look at the problems displaced Palestinians/Arabs have caused in the Middle East with their settlements…even the Egyptians (who my no means are moderate) don’t want them. The majority of the Western world doesn’t recognise them. And you wonder why they wanted Hamas to “protect” them. The problem these Palestinians have is not that they are a bunch of Arabs grouped together and called “Palestinians”. The problem is their only identity is their Muslim identity- and this has never developed anything other than hatred for Jews. Palestinian Christians have even developed a hatred for Jews. And you wonder why they have remained poor and downtrodden as a people. To the point where other Arabs mock them for being nothing other than rock throwing peasants.
