If our medical profession was worth anything as a guild, these mengles would be out on their ass and their occupational licenses forfeit. Instead, the Carlos Mantillas in our world are sanctioning anyone who objects. Maybe you can trust your doctor, but you cannot trust the professional associations, medical schools, and anyone who supervises your doctor.

Thanks, Bruised Optimist, your comment was a learning experience for me. Presently there are 7 structures that are considered vistigital in the adult human body. Hypothalamus as you noted is not one of them; however in Darwin’s time it was considered vestigital along with the pineal, thalmus, pituitary glands. The important functions of their hormones were not understood.
Thanks to modern medicine the appendix is not considered vestigital as the pouch contains bacteria helpful to the immune system.
