One hopes for the day when fools like these will find all language to be a tool for white supremacy, and they stand ingloriously mute ever after.

There’s a certain delightful irony that in order to have their language be more “inclusive” they are moving back to Latin (practicum), albeit an Anglicization from the early 20th century which probably fails to absolve it of its potentially non-inclusive connotations. Moreover, how are non-anglo students supposed to feel included by such a Eurocentric word as practicum? Such heavy handed philological colonization is disappointing on USCs part, and they should be ashamed.
On a more serious note, they might be on to something, as Latin is more inclusive than English when dealing with people of various races, culture and languages. If only the western Church had ever thought of having a universal language…
But wait! There’s more!

Why say it concisely when you can you it in a paragraph!
The Stanford Method!
Social work is a pseudo-profession begging to be dismantled. Two elements of this would be to shut the ‘professional schools’ and abolish the licensing boards.
“Hello, Ladies and Gentlemen and Non-Binary Cheeseheads of all ages and self-identities, and welcome to the frozen tundra of Lambeau Practicum, where today . . .”
My Dad’s family spent the Depression laboring in the fields and groves of California. Oddly enough, they were EuroAmericans of a somewhat light beige complexion. I find no shame in the word “field”, and take pride in my forebears’ work. Don’t know if people still use “Okie” as a pejorative, but they had best not do so in my hearing.
WK Aiken- Even that attempt doesn’t work. See below.
“Hello,” – That assumption of cultural hegemony in greeting is not inclusive in the slightest. Do you know how many people die every year just hearing that word?
“Ladies and Gentlemen” – assume gender much? You’re literally killing people.
“and Non-Binary” – Even acknowledging a binary by means of its negation makes you part of the problem.
“Cheeseheads” – Very non-inclusive of the lactose-free and lactose-intolerant communities.
“of all ages” – Even assuming that people should identify according to categories of age foisted upon them by white european males is just being openly hateful and causing harm.
“and” – You’re assuming a level of literacy that can comprehend two related thoughts in one sentence rather than splitting them into two distinct sentences, which is hateful to those of differing and diverse literacies.
“welcome” – No land-use acknowledgement? What right do you, a land usurper and colonizer, have to welcome anyone to land which does not rightfully belong to you?
“the frozen tundra” – Frozen is a word which can have negative and slighting connotations to those of differing latitudinal communities, and tundra is a shameless form of cultural and geographical appropriation.
“of Lambeau” – Naming a stadium after a white european male is the opposite of being anti-racist.
“Practicum” – this word is acceptable as long as it is used explicitly in opposition to the word “field.” Any other use whatsoever is advocating the hegemony of dead white european males and is just as bad as using “field.”
“where” – Locationism is a bias that was foisted upon indigenous people by white male conquerors.
“today…” – White understandings of time are tools of oppression; see Locationism above.

Practicum is from the Greek praktikos meaning “fit for doing”. It’s imposing your value system on others.
Our previous Parish Priest was Fr. Mark Field. I wonder how he would respond to being addressed as Fr. Practicum ?
