Now why would his handlers have Dementia Joe waste his time on this? Even before his dementia Biden had a well earned reputation as one of the dimmest bulbs in the Senate. Hardly a man to spend time talking to academics. Two thoughts: create a crisis atmosphere to justify repressive measures before the midterm and perhaps lay the framework for Biden to leave the presidency for the “good of the nation in dire times”. Doctor Jill of course would be the main opposition to this: Biden will do what his handlers tell him to do.
We had a subscription to Newsweek when Meachem was the editor, notably during its terminal period when he attempted to remanufacture it into something akin to The New Republic and its writers put in black letters their actual opinions (which revealed that they were sufficiently obtuse that Martin Peretz would never have hired them). That Meacham would participate in this sorry exercise is yet another black mark against him.
