I guess people know a show trial when they see it. With rare exceptions, most Congressional hearings throughout our history have tended to be ignored by the nation. DC always thinks that the nation is a lot more focused on it than is actually the case. Political junkies like myself pay attention to the doings of the government, but most people are focused on their private concerns and the concerns of their family. This is as it should be. When nations become consumed by politics, it is rarely a healthy development for the nation.
In any case, this completely one sided partisan travesty was bloated and boring. The attempt to portray the January 6 riot, in a national capital which has seen many riots, as the greatest threat to the nation since the Civil War, or perhaps even as a greater threat than the Civil War, was too silly for words. The nation rarely sends its best to Congress, and Congress reaffirmed the truth of that observation in this snooze-a-thon.
