I thought you had a law practice Don?

Mr. McClarey, just started reading some of your articles… can you tell me a good, single volume on William Starke Rosecrans to read that doesn’t undercut his zeal for his faith? Much appreciated.
Unfortunately Mike, no satisfactory biography for Rosecrans has yet been written. Grant had only disdain for Rosecrans and his attitude has been carried down the years unfortunately by most Civil War historians.
The Edge of Glory is an older biography of Rosecrans and probably would be a good place to start in learning about Old Rosie.

I wish Tito! Then I could get paid by taxpayers to watch cat vids!
My dog is not as smart as that black cat.
The black cat is smarter than the average member of Congress.
I had only known the name Rosecrans from visiting Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery in San Diego. Thanks for bringing up the name of Wm. Starke Rosecrans; it lead me to read the Wikipedia version of his bio. Quite interesting military and civilian careers.
A small town in Illinois is named after him. If battlefield fortunes had been kinder to him at Chickamauga he might well have eventually been President, our first Catholic President a century before JFK. I can easily imagine Lincoln putting him on the ticket in 1864. Indeed, historically James Garfield boosted the idea, but nothing came of it.
