What’s the chance of another civil war? It’s not zero, that’s for sure. This two tiered system of justice can’t and won’t continue.
Almost every one prior to the Civil War denied that there would be a civil war and that if it did occur it would be bloodless and that the other side would be easy to beat. I see the same sort of rampant idiocy at work today.
I am old enough to remember the McCarthy hearings in the 1950s. The Jan 6 hearings are orders of magnitude worse in terms of the rights of the accused. While Republicans are not exactly icons of rectitude, there is such a thing as being pushed beyond endurance. The Southern Democrats in 1861 demonstrated that by igniting the first Civil War through secession from the Union. History is replete with instances of civil wars started by over reach and miscalculations.
Forty-seven million more Americans sank into financial insecurity and millions more are running up credit card debt just to feed their children and get to work. Tis Jan 6 BS doesn’t do anything for them.

Well, the general populace has shown it can be pushed quite far for quite some time. If there is a civil war, it won’t have the convenient geographic demarcation of the last one. It could also end up in an all against all, with subfactions switching sides (to the extent there are sides) often and unexpectedly. A real cluster.

I think sorting has been underway for some time now. Basically it is urban v. rural with medium sized towns and suburbs being battle grounds. Blue State America would be strongest in the Northeast with Red State America strongest in the South. Blue State America would have significant weaknesses including urban centers that would be quickly cut off from each other and urban based corporations which would be heads without bodies as their industries in Red State America came under Red State control. Like the Civil War volunteer units would quickly provide most of the military forces. Our regular forces would quickly find themselves torn asunder with conflicting loyalties and the impossibility of our military exercising effective control over a continental sized nation in the midst of a civil war. Nasty business all around. I hope we avoid it.
There are plenty of people in red states who eagerly complied with unjust health mandates, sometimes even ratting their neighbors out. And this didn’t just happen in the cities. These people would enthusiastically follow DC in a civil war.
They will get a rude awakening when they discover where their neighbors stand. I agree that in a Civil War things would quickly stabilize under geographic lines, but not until after a brutal “resorting” period.
