Show Trials and “Justice” as an Engine of Oppression

Lenin and Stalin would be proud.

After Lenin toppled the Kerensky government in 1917, the Bolsheviks were briefly in coalition with other left wing parties, and Isaac Steinberg, an Anarchist, was Commissar of Justice.  When he protested the summary executions ordered by Lenin, Lenin waved off his objections that these were unjust:

He resented my opposition in the name of revolutionary justice.  So I called out in exasperation:  “Then why do we bother with a Commissariat of Justice?  Let’s call it frankly the Commissariat for Social Extermination and be done with it.”  Lenin’s face suddenly brightened and he replied, “Well put…that’s exactly what it should be…but we can’t say that.”

What’s the chance of another civil war? It’s not zero, that’s for sure. This two tiered system of justice can’t and won’t continue.

I am old enough to remember the McCarthy hearings in the 1950s. The Jan 6 hearings are orders of magnitude worse in terms of the rights of the accused. While Republicans are not exactly icons of rectitude, there is such a thing as being pushed beyond endurance. The Southern Democrats in 1861 demonstrated that by igniting the first Civil War through secession from the Union. History is replete with instances of civil wars started by over reach and miscalculations.

Forty-seven million more Americans sank into financial insecurity and millions more are running up credit card debt just to feed their children and get to work. Tis Jan 6 BS doesn’t do anything for them.

Ergo, despite the Jan 6 and Roe! fake hoopla, the Dems and Never Trumper $cumbags are sinking faster than the Titanic.

Notice that not only is Donald Trump silent on this, the conservative commentariat is silent on his silence.

Well, the general populace has shown it can be pushed quite far for quite some time. If there is a civil war, it won’t have the convenient geographic demarcation of the last one. It could also end up in an all against all, with subfactions switching sides (to the extent there are sides) often and unexpectedly. A real cluster.

There are plenty of people in red states who eagerly complied with unjust health mandates, sometimes even ratting their neighbors out. And this didn’t just happen in the cities. These people would enthusiastically follow DC in a civil war.

They will get a rude awakening when they discover where their neighbors stand. I agree that in a Civil War things would quickly stabilize under geographic lines, but not until after a brutal “resorting” period.
