I would love to see the Pope attempt to act as an actual mediator between Russia and Ukraine, it would be true comedy cold. When he doesn’t have a script the man is like a drunken elephant attempting to negotiate a slippery set of stairs. Additionally his Chinese paymaster would no doubt order him to favor Russia. Perhaps not. They might order him to favor chaos which would come naturally enough to this Pope.
