If correct, Russia has lost in less than a month more troops than the US lost in two decades of war in Afghanistan and Iraq. Dry statistics of course do not reflect the human misery and grief behind them. Russia has a population less than half that of the US and many Russian families have only one child, their pride and joy. A high price indeed is being paid by ordinary Russians for Putin’s fantasy of recreating the old Soviet Union which is as dead and buried as The Holy Roman Empire The Ukrainians of course are the primary victims of this crime on a massive scale, but I suspect the name of Putin will be a curse among most Russians for generations to come by the time this debacle plays out.
