Of course Cupich has done this throughout his misbegotten career. This kidney stone of a pontificate is his dream come true.
Cupich Bashes Faithful Catholics
- Donald R. McClarey
Donald R. McClarey
Cradle Catholic. Active in the pro-life movement since 1973. Father of three, one in Heaven, and happily married for 43 years. Small town lawyer and amateur historian. Former president of the board of directors of the local crisis pregnancy center for a decade.
“The floggings will continue until all you troglodytes rediscover the value of the reform in the rites given us by the Second Vatican Council. Or else.”
The people of his archdiocese must feel so inspired, so accompanied.
Their battle is against the holy powers in Paradise. At least Lucifer had the courage to identify himself as an enemy of all that is good.
The episcopacy is so odious that we’re reaching the point where anyone will defy them who cares to.
“ The episcopacy is so odious that we’re reaching the point where anyone will defy them who cares to.”
I certainly hope you are right, Art. Two “Ecclesia Dei” orders of priests, the Institute of Christ the King, Sovereign Priest and the Canons Regular of St. John Cantius, are headquartered in the Archdiocese of Chicago. They are going to have to make a decision very quickly whether to obey or ignore this oppression. I fear they will buckle under the pressure of the ultramontanist culture now prevalent in the Church. Let’s all hope and pray they stand firm in their charisms. What Cupich and the other tradition-hating hirelings will do then is anybody’s guess.
“The episcopacy is so odious that we’re reaching the point where anyone will defy them who cares to.”
It’s glaringly obvious that this is rigidity not accompaniment, nor is it humble.
This clericalism that expects the faithful to fall in line and believe the Church did not exist before V2, and there were no Popes before PF -will fail.
If a priest that is a novice at TLM and botching the Mass, well, that’s a reasonable reaction to stopping the practice. Unfortunately that’s not what is going on.
For that reason my heart breaks as this gift to the faithful is abolished.
Fools.
Cupich is a grinch.
He’s Grover Dill to the pontiff’s Scut Farkas.
The bully’s toady.
The perfect seasonal comparison Dale. I will have to stea–
borrow it in the future!
“He’s Grover Dill to the pontiff’s Scut Farkas.”
Oh, that’s perfect.
For those who might be briefed on just what +Cupich’s “misbegotten career” career consisted of, pre-Chicago, Carl Olson did a remarkable in-depth story over at CWR in 2015: https://www.catholicworldreport.com/2015/02/09/a-tale-of-two-bishops-2/
I talked to Carl afterward. What really astonished him, he said, was the extraordinary difficuty he had in finding anyone in Spokane willing to speak positively about +Cupich – even among resident progressives.
Scut Farkas went too far.
Recalling the bloody nose.
Sometimes the push back comes from the unexpected.
Good reason to keep praying for Francis and Cupich.
I don’t object to your praying for them. Me, I’m going to be praying against them.
He’s an unpleasant operator with unshakable beliefs in his own righteousness and that he’s the smartest man in the room. A bull that brings his own china shop wherever he goes, to crib from Churchill. Other people are tertiary considerations to his rulership.
I’ve read reports about the same in Chicago: he has not endeared himself to the Bernardin legacy types at all.
Don
When Benedict XVI published Summorum Pontificum I read some optimistically hyperbolic comments to the effect that if the Hierarchy was completely neutral on TLM versus the new mass; the new mass would be virtually dead in two generations.
Give the sever nature of Francis’s Traditionis Custodes it seems that he ,Cardinal Cupich, and othersw are in complete agreement with these comments. They must take extreme action to save the new mass from dying of non- attendance.
Pray for the Chuch,
The venom Hank with which traditional Catholicism has been attacked in this pontificate is not the attitude of men confident in the long term durability of their version of Catholicism.
Don-You know that deep down they now are coming to realize that what they have been trying to do will fail. They also know that according to their own puppet’s words [Amoris Laetitia] that 1. there is no hell for traditional catholics; and 2. traditional catholics must be incorporated, pastorally, into daily parish life along serial public adulterers and flagrant sinners who freely choose to engage in homosexual actions. Not to worry. Jesus + all reading this + all who comment here = a majority. Happy New Year-may God their Father see fit to call them all home to Him. guy, Texas
The most difficult part of my prayer life is prayers for those that I loathe.
It’s very challenging for me personally.
Hillary Clinton…almost impossible but I manage to do it. The same with those who have betrayed the office of priesthood. The ones who soiled their trust with abusing children and so on.
Cupich and Francis too.
It’s not easy but neither is being a follower of Christ. It takes discipline, Faith and child like trust.
I take nothing away from G. Poulin’s feelings of praying against them. Today’s first reading reminds me to aim higher;
[Reading I 1 Jn 2:3-11
Beloved:
The way we may be sure that we know Jesus
is to keep his commandments.
Whoever says, “I know him,” but does not keep his commandments
is a liar, and the truth is not in him.
But whoever keeps his word,
the love of God is truly perfected in him.
This is the way we may know that we are in union with him:
whoever claims to abide in him ought to walk just as he walked.
Beloved, I am writing no new commandment to you
but an old commandment that you had from the beginning.
The old commandment is the word that you have heard.
And yet I do write a new commandment to you,
which holds true in him and among you,
for the darkness is passing away,
and the true light is already shining.
Whoever says he is in the light,
yet hates his brother, is still in the darkness.
Whoever loves his brother remains in the light,
and there is nothing in him to cause a fall.
Whoever hates his brother is in darkness;
he walks in darkness
and does not know where he is going
because the darkness has blinded his eyes.]
When I make it a habit to pray for those I don’t agree with or dislike, I find that my peace is intact afterwards. When righteous indignation tempts me to unload both barrels at the scoundrels I’m not better off for having done so.
Jesus himself commands us to pray for our enemies.
My guess is that it’s because His image and likeness are within each of us and the power of converting hearts belong to Him. Out of His love for us He wishes to share in His work. I suppose that might be one reason to pray for them.
After all we are called to be Holy “as my Father in Heaven is Holy.”
A work that none of us can accomplish on our own, but with Christ all things are possible.
No disrespect to G. Poulin.
Prayers against criminal activity is honorable. Prayers for the culprits could be life saving. Eternal life.
Phil N, You are the best pray-er I know. Thank you. Guy, Texas
You should visit our parish.
I’ll introduce you to the A-team.
A small group of women who through their ceaseless prayer have brought about Perpetual Eurchrist Adoration which has led to religious vocations, expansion of parish and the finest Legion of Mary soliders who weekly pray with the elderly in nursing homes, visit shut-in’s, bring them groceries, take them to dr.appt’s, and remain humble, giving all the glory to God.
Me?
I’m a novice.
Thanks for your comment Guy.
God bless you and heal you.
