One of the salient features of the lockdown madness has been the blatant rules are for the peasants attitude of those mandating the lockdown edicts. This isn’t even a double standard. It is a treatment of free citizens as cattle and the rulers as masters of the herd. That attitude is precisely what is behind all the malicious double talk about a Great Reset.
What got you about Whitmer was how arbitrary the lock-down ordinances were, e.g. prohibiting people from visiting garden stores and prohibiting them from traveling to their own vacation cottages. Just before George Floyd expired from an overdose of fentanyl, there was a modest protest at the Michigan state capitol. The blather in the media was about how all irresponsible this was. Then you had mass buts-to-nuts demonstrations as far away as Amsterdam in honor of that felon / scapegrace and you had hundreds of public health specialists signing public statements that racism-was-a-public-health problem so all of this is totes OK. That should tell you that public health is a ‘profession’ that lacks the seriousness to weed out aspirants who are errant fools. And of course, Whitmer attempted legal subterfuges to extend the lockdowns when Michigan courts ruled she’d overstepped her authority by miles.

IIRC, she’s a legacy pol whose experience of law practice is close to nil and who has been in elective office since she finished school. We really would benefit from constitutional provisions which would make it challenging-to-impossible for these types to worm their way into public office.
The catch phrase for the mitten state is PURE MICHIGAN, which the ad campaign uses in the hope of increasing it’s tourism dollars.

We are missing a real governor in our beloved state.
Just got back from the Upper Penninsula. Lots of campgrounds up there, State and private. A local claimed that last summer places were booked up–with out of State folks. Not a single Michigan license plate anywhere.

The residents of Michigan by and large stayed home (although many in the Sanford/Midland areas did need to move due the incompetent idiots running and regulating the Tittabawassee River dam systems).

@DJH- just crazy. Who is protecting her to stay in office and how can you boot her out of office…Thats what the people of Michigan should be thinking about… hypocrisy abounds everywhere.
@Ezabelle: there was a recall effort, but we did not get enough signatures (maybe we could have tried harder?). Not sure it matters, because the Sec of State and A.G. are both Dems, and will not do their jobs.

The GOP controlled House and Senate have not been able to put through veto proof legislation, but not sure how hard they have tried.

The cities, except for Grand Rapids, are all Democrat hot spots, and Whitmer does have a following. I cannot rule out the thought Biden did in fact win Michigan.
