Bidet crowing about his success handling vaccinations is like a rooster taking credit for the sunrise.

Sorry Bidet, you didn’t build that.

The vaccine is irrelevant, except perhaps as a money maker for Big Pharma.
.
1) CDC says that it is safe for unvaccinated teachers to return to the classroom. Any teacher (and parent!) can tell you children, especially the little ones, are generally walking germ factories. Teachers absolutely should have been near the top of the list; that they were not speaks volumes to me.
.
2) Even when a person is vaccinated, he must still wear a mask (maybe double or triple) and socially distance until some undetermined time. I expect for several years if not decades–already mask wearing is the norm in many parts of the country.
.
3) A person who is vaccinated must still quarantine if he is exposed to the virus.
.
4) The vaccine will likely be needed at least once year, just like the flu vaccine.
.
I’m in no rush to get this waste of money.

No, they shouldn’t have been. The median retirement age for teachers is 59. Teachers over 60 are a single-digit minority of the whole. Teachers over 50 with a weight problem aren’t much more common.

Biden can’t carry out his promise of “increasing” to 1 million vaccinations per day unless the count goes below 1 million. And the journalists in minitruth will ensure that the past reflects his accomplishment.

That being said the vaccine itself is indeed irrelevant for the reasons that DJH says (other than teachers not being vaccinated; there isn’t evidence that children can spread COVID-19. The spread would have to be asymptotic in nearly all cases and there is also very little evidence for asymptotic spread. Teachers should legitimately be more worried about catching influenza from students.)

It seems that people aren’t quite reading into my thoughts on teachers and vaccines. IF Covid is as deadly as the MSM and Our Betters have made it out to be, then yes, teachers should have been at the top of the list. Asymotomatic spread MUST be a thing since we are requiring healthy-appearing people to wear masks (in non-surigical settings).
.
But of course, none of that is true. Covid simply is not what They say it is, and They know it. Faucci knows it. The CDC knows it. I suspect the Union leadership knows it. Biden may not–I assume he has significant cognitive decline–but his handlers know it. As it is being presented, Covid is a fraud. Yes, it is a nasty bug, but not the Bubonic Plague. And no, for the most part, teachers really don’t need it that badly anymore than most of us do. I am not entirely sure that even the high risk people folks will benefit from it that greatly.

“3) A person who is vaccinated must still quarantine if he is exposed to the virus.”

It looks like state offices are beginning to change that policy.

No, they shouldn’t have been. This virus can be deadly to people over 60 and to people over 50 with a weight problem. Aside from these population subsets, there is no more reason to vaccinate teachers than there is to vaccinate any other set of service employees who come in contact with others. You vaccinate nurses and other hands-on medical personnel because they are in contact with sick people all the time which teachers are not.

Pinky-which State offices are changing that? Not here in Michigan. That is not what I am being told.
.
Art: you are being reasonable. From that stand point, no, teachers as a group probably should not be among the first. In my area, some have been vaccinated. It is irrelevant, because if they come in contact with a Covid positive child, they must quarantine.
.
And that is another part of the problem. Gretchen graciously allowed our schools to open…but the quaratine restrictions remain. If a teacher is exposed, they must quarantine. But of course, it is never one teacher. More like five or six. Our local system had to close because there were too many people in quarantine (not sick, just shut in the house). They are desperate for substitute teachers and bus drivers. No takers.

I found this article yesterday about NH changing their rules. I think I found another state too, but I can’t find it now. Maybe it was something on YouTube.
