The signing of the Constitution at the Constitutional Convention in 1787. Painting by Howard Chandler Christy in 1940, just before the Country experienced the test of World War II. The painting was paid for by Congressional authorization as part of the United States Constitution Sesquicentennial Commission celebrations.
