“By my Troth,” as Shakespeare’s Trincolo says in the Tempest (Act 2, Scene 2):
Quietly, at a few traditional often enclosed sisters’ orders and convents that this reader follows, quarterly reports by these groups note that a steady stream of young women are coming to explore the possibility of a vocation, and some of those are entering postulancy and novitiate. All these orders wear their traditional habit at all times and their primary daily obligation (although they may teach or have other apostolic functions) is the Office, Mass, and the Rosary.
The most well known of these are the traditional Benedictines of Mary of Gower, MO (they have added a convent in Ava, MO and one in U.K., due to the flood of vocations ), the Dominican Sisters of St. Cecilia of Nashville, and near us, the Dominican Sisters of Ann Arbor, MI Motherhouse. There are many others, such as the Poor Clares of S. Collette and the Discalced Carmelites, experiencing the same interest and growth.
I believe a significant number of younger folks are done with unserious pursuits.
Some are tripling down on the nonsequitur illogic of woke. Others are looking into the archives and discovering old lifeway’s that work better and are authentic.
The Church of Nice is unserious. No consequences, no victory, green participation ribbons for all participants – and everybody else too!
One should stop to consider the others that are tired of unseriousness, on the woke side. What expressions of seriousness will they be bringing out of the archives? Violence seems to be on their minds and on their lips.
We’re gonna need those new habited buns to pray for us!
