The worse that clerics get at doing the jobs entrusted to them, the more they seek to take on tasks that have bupkis to do with their role in the Church.

I posted this on X / Twitter. It’s politically very incorrect. I got no time for hippies like Prevost who used slogans about clean water as they marched in protest in front of the entry gates to the Indian Point nuclear power plants, block our way into work in the morning. They’ve finally succeeded in shutting those plants down, and replacement power is dirty and polluting, but they don’t protest against that.
Your useless pontification about clean water will do NOTHING to supply this necessity to the poor of impoverished, poverty-stricken countries, Your Worthless. I have worked in the nuclear power industry for 50 years, providing pollution-free, safe power, something you as a Pharisee and a self-righteous hypocrite ever ingratiating himself with the liberal elite have never ever done. The text below describes how to provide abundant clean potable water using this technology. Now you shut your Chicago Democrat mouth and start doing what God called His Vicar to do: calling people to repentance and holiness. And BTW, you must publicly repent for protesting in the 1980s with Italian communists against your own country’s deterrence to protect NATO and counter Soviet nuclear aggression in Warsaw Pact countries. REPENT, you traitor!
Nuclear energy can be effectively used to desalinate and purify water by coupling nuclear reactor heat and electricity with industrial distillation or membrane separation systems. This will work whether the nuclear design is a pressurized or boiling water reactor, a Candu heavy water reactor, a liquid metal fast breeder reactor, or a high temperature helium cooled graphite moderated reactor. Use of fuel (enriched U-235, mixed oxide fuel with Pu-239, or U-233 bred from Th-232) does not matter. This co-generation approach offers a low-carbon, cost-competitive alternative to fossil-fuel-powered water treatment, and can provide abundant, clean potable water almost anywhere in the world (except of course deserts, where pumping clean water becomes necessary, but the electricity for the pump motors is easily supplied by nuclear electric generation).
How the Process Works to Desalinate and Purify Water
Electricity Generation (Reverse Osmosis): Nuclear fission creates steam that drives turbines to produce electricity. This carbon-free power runs high-pressure electric pumps in Reverse Osmosis (RO) systems, which force seawater through fine, semi-permeable membranes to filter out salts and impurities.
Using Waste Heat (Thermal Desalination): Traditional plants lose about two-thirds of their thermal energy as waste heat. Instead of releasing low-grade steam into the air, nuclear facilities can (and would) pipe this excess thermal energy directly into distillation units.
Now I am not going to debate any of the inevitable post-Vatican II environmentalist detractors to what I posted. You all can go straight to hell as far as I am concerned. I am finished with the liberal progressive hypocrisy and heterodoxy of the Institutional Church, and as far as I am concerned, the sooner it’s all burned to the ground, the better. Ezekiel 8 through 11 should serve as a warning to the Vatican and @USCCB.
Whenever I read things like this, it is hard to escape the thought that there are actually individuals who truly believe there are people who *want* dirty water (or pollution, take your pick), as if they sit around like mustache twirling villains….
“Bwahahahaha I’ll make this water unclean…FOREVER!!” Like a Captain Planet episode. Such unserious people.
“The Way of Water…”
Vatican reports do feel like we’re watching an alien movie.
Imagine seeing the state of the world … All the souls being led into sin by the modernist mob, the global violence against Christians, the protection and glorification of criminality and the persecution of the just … Imagine the Pope seeing all this and thinking “I should address the need for more tree-hugging!”
Lord save us!
I’m waiting for a meme of Greta Thunberg dressed like the Pope yelling How dare you???! I don’t do AI but I may have to learn just so I create that picture.
LQC, someday we’re going to have to compare notes. I represented the company that was in nuclear power plant construction and eventually had to close down because of the people you talk about. Literally tens of thousands of employees in many states in highly paid jobs ended up getting laid off often with no place else to go for a job since the chatterers closed down nuclear power. My comment to them is:
How dare they!??!
While I am no fan of this weird eco-christianity ( which often seems to save the aquarium regardless of the well being of the fish) I am in favor of praying for just water management.
Often, farmers get a bad deal on this because of the demands of municipalities with lawns. There have also been reports of wildfire control being… severely hampered… by unjust and unwise water policy.
Do I think this is anywhere near the top of the list in our flaunt-your-sin, modernist world? NO. But I will pray for the farmer whose crops die because of bad bureaucracy and firefighters who are struggling with the temptation to throttle officials that make saving lives and property harder for stupid reasons.
“The Milagro Beanfield War” was better. (Excluding the miserable movie.)
I have nothing against Pope Leo advocating greater access to clean drinking water. In fact, I agree with his defenders on this in that it is proper for him to do so. This is, after all, a corporal work of mercy. What I have a problem with is that he doesn’t seem to understand that ensuring clean drinking water requires energy, lots of energy. But yet, he supports junk science-based environmental policies that make producing that energy more expensive and more difficult.
Valid points by Greg Mockeridge and The Bruised Optimist. Agreed. What I won’t tolerate, however, is this neo-pagan environmentalism.
The Church has no expertise in this area and the Pope ignores critical areas in which he has responsibility and power: the war on the traditional Mass, the Vatican-China debacle, Rupnik, aggression by Muslims against Christians, etc. The Green Agenda and other diversions detracts attention from the simple fact that the Pope is not doing his job.
100% correct, Donald. The Pope and his clerics have no idea what it takes to provide clean water to an impoverished nation in Africa, Southeast Asia, or Latin America. I doubt he’s even aware that the Diablo Canyon nuclear power plants have an on-site desalination facility which they power and from which they supply the antinukes in San Luis Obispo County with clean potable water. Oh the irony.
So many unborn children slaughtered! So many young children murdered family members . These are moral issues crying out for Papa Pope to speak to I pray.
One could pray for access to clean water and adequate food or one could pray AND call out the oppressive godless SOBs that are responsible for it. Spoiler: it ain’t Tom and Suzy in pew 19.
But… uh… “who am I to judge” said the previous boss…
No, but he gets good press by making such statements.
MG Mizusawa, USA ret, wants small nuclear reactors built throughout Virginia. He is the GOP nominee for US senator. One of the reasons I voted for him.
Drought is one of the ways God punishes evildoers. During World War II the CBs Construction Battalion steam distilled millions of gallons of sea water to serve the armed forces.
All persons ought to have clean water.
