it’s in man’s nature to desire a king; wounded nature (original sin) desires to forget Christ The King… then there’s the world and the devil that want the same thing.

We had a couple of Popesplaining types in the days of JP2 and Benedict (who were also annoying, but for different reasons), but it became its own cottage industry the first time Francis had his airplane press gaggle.
It looks to me as it fits the usual liberal (but also fallen human) tendency to tell us to mindlessly yield to “experts” – “we got this, just listen to us and you have nothing to worry about!”
Problem is now you have a loud enough minority of people who are pointing out the lack of clothing on the emperor and the Popesplaining class can only reflexively shout “pay no attention to that man behind the curtain!”
The pope is infallible when teaching ex-cathedra with all the bishops in the world. …no exceptions.
