Branigan’s Gloria was adopted by the St. Louis Blues in 2019, the year they won the Stanley Cup.
I play this (loudly!) every Easter after morning Mass 🙂

The pop song “Gloria,” sung by Laura Branigan, was originally written in Italian by Umberto Antonio Tozzi.
But the melody is adapted from the Gloria of Beethoven’s Missa Solemnis in D major.
Vivaldi was a priest, and spent a large part of his life as chaplain for a Venetian orphanage. That orphanage for girls was famous for the musical training it provided, and augmented its income with regular concerts. It was one of the famous ‘sights’ of Venice in its day, and tourists and locals both flocked to hear music both new and old.
Imagine the beauty of a ‘simple’ daily Mass there, back then…
