These are the prayers that the deeply unfortunate Bishop Martin of Charlotte is attempting to ban for priests in his diocese.
Since Vatican II these vesting prayers have been optional, but to the strange thinking of Bishop Martin their continued use by his priests implies a suspect loyalty to Vatican II. Instead, His Excellency would prefer his priests not to pray at all as they vest for Mass— a peculiar mindset indeed.
Thought crimes—and their ancillary prayers—must be forbidden.
