It doesn’t occur to him that people in Africa eat because they produce food there and that those in refugee centers weren’t getting their nutrition from USAID because it was a money laundering operation with no boots on the gournd.
Defunding USAID means that this child won’t have to learn critical gender theory in grade school.

Disagree with you there. You had one European power trying to head off other European powers. Most African territories had few if any colonists. There was a rotating population of civil servants and soldiers, Mining industry officials here and there, missionaries here and there. In East Africa, much of the actual colonial population consisted of East Indians, not Europeans. Kenya’s white population was fewer than 25,000 in number in 1950. Aside from Kenya, you had actual colonies in Angola, Mozambique, Rhodesia, and South Africa. South Africa’s colonization antedated the scramble for Africa, the white population of Mozambique and Angola have largely disappeared, and that in Rhodesia is a fraction of what it once was.

The European powers did not have the productive base to maintain their African dependencies for an indefinite period, so replacing the dependency relationship with patron-client relationships between African political bosses and European governments and between African bosses and inter-governmental agencies was a sensible thing to do in toto. It’s a pity it was not done in a more orderly way (especially in re the Congo, southern Sudan, and some other loci).
