Word of the Day

He said he is against the filioque, but I suspect he is a closet Pneumatomachianist, and we better keep our eyes on him.

I asked Grok on Twitter about this. Every new theology is just a very old heresy.

I had a Jesuit professor who told the story of driving an elderly priest somewhere and as they passed an Orthodox church, the old man rolled down his window and yelled, “Filioque, you b*stards!”

The struggle is real.

It all makes sense now. I reference “pneumatology” as the study of the Holy Spirit every year when I run through the many branches of theology. I have discussed the Council of Constantinople in 381 (which added all the further elements of the Creed concerning the Spirit) in my Church history class to protect the divinity of the Holy Spirit…but now I know there is an official word for the heresy!
