In a recent sci-fi thread here, “A Canticle for Leibowitz” was suggested and so I purchased it and finished reading it this past week. It is a fantastic work. For whatever reason one part that stuck out to me was when the author had a snippet of the Litany of the Saints:
From the rain of the strontium,
O Lord, deliver us.
From the fall of the cesium,
O Lord, deliver us.
Brilliant. Now I’m considering getting a collector’s edition of the work, which has some gorgeous illustrations:

Has anyone read the posthumously published sequel? Is it worth getting?
No, it is a dreadful work, bad science fiction. It reflects the author’s disturbed state of mind in his later life and his turn to atheism.
thanks Donald!

“Maybe it is nothing but a coincidence that our F-15E weapons officer went missing on Good Friday only to be rescued in a stunning special operation on Easter Sunday. Maybe. But were I the other guys, that is, the bad guys, I’d not like the odds one bit. Indeed, I’d be strongly drawn to the idea of living the rest of my life with a firm purpose of amendment.”
