Around the Seventh of Never. May her gallant soul rest in peace. Remember her.
Pope to Condemn the Barbarities of the Iranian Regime
- Donald R. McClarey
Donald R. McClarey
Cradle Catholic. Active in the pro-life movement since 1973. Father of three, one in Heaven, and happily married for 43 years. Small town lawyer and amateur historian. Former president of the board of directors of the local crisis pregnancy center for a decade.
How the Pope and his clerics can ignore the atrocities of tyrannical Muslim regimes but go out of their way to condemn the United States is unfathomable. The Vatican is not our friend.
The current pontiff and his entourage, like the previous pontiff, are unmitigated idiots when it comes to Islam.
Rorate Caeli has a piece about the recent resignation of the Chaldean Catholic archbishop. Bergoglio basically ignored their problems (Really!).
On the contrary, the Vatican is our friend, placed there by Our Lord to do His work til He come.
*Individuals* there are often stupid, faithless, and unfriendly – because they are men, and perhaps because Christ promised us crosses to bear. The same Christ promised to go prepare a place for us. Can we believe one promise and not the other?
I truly wish it were easier to live as a faithful Catholic in 2026, but His will, not mine. His ways are far above my ways. May God avenge himself by making his enemies into faithful men!
Read that again.
Executed for destroying regime / Islamic symbols.
Flag burning. At worst, if they were public property, vandalism.
Sharia law that *executes* for this is fundamentally incompatible with Western law.
Bring this up when the usual dipsticks in your life say sharia is “no biggie.”
I’m gonna need a chapter and verse for this one.
Christ gave us the Church, but the Vatican is a human construct which didn’t exist prior to 1929.
… not to be nit-picky 🙂
CAG-
Kinda had a feeling that not would be picked.
As I understand it, the hierarchy of the Church, which is apostolic, cannot fail. I meant Vatican in that sense, not the geography. In the same way, calvary would be a geographic bump on Israel except for Our Lord’s presence.
I am all too aware that on a certain day, whose commemoration is soon, most of the hierarchy bailed on Christ. I try to remember that one stayed and (most) came back.
I trust His promise, not the men in pointy hats.
It would be great if the Bishops acted like Catholics rather than catholic lite. I am really surprised so many people want to convert to the Faith. It sure isn’t due to the leadership. Must be the Holy Spirit only. I contend that the West needs to have some suffering. Since we have little or no skin in the game, we cannot truly understand the pain of those yearning for freedom like the girl above. Now that is courage.
I recall another gallant soul: a Berber chieftain’s daughter who rallied her people against the Arab invasion of North Africa, holding up the Mohammedan conquest of the region for a decade or more in the 7th century. Added to Heraclius’ fire-bombing the Arab fleet at Constantinople (twice) and defense of Carthage, the invasion of Spain and France was delayed for a generation, until Odo of Aquitaine and Charles Martel grew up. That chieftain’s daughter is one reason we have no fear of ayatollatarianism.
And they sent her head in a basket to Caliph Omar.
