We, and he, would be far better off if Cdl Cupich agreed that he was unworthy to be cardinal, bishop, or priest.
It would be far better.
As I recall, another bishop, when elected, said “Depart from me Lord, I am a sinful man.”
It may not be likely that Cdl Cupich will become such a bishop or such a man, but we ought to pray for it nonetheless.
He is a thug. A vindictive little thug. He is not a man or a priest.
Even after all that has taken place in the past twenty five years, the level of dishonesty and corruption within the Catholic clergy is simply astonishing,

You could say that. The more obtrusive scandal is that Cupich (quite gratuitously) was set to give an award to a blatantly unworthy person. The whole business was an exercise in flipping the bird at lay Catholics.
Oh for the days of Cardinal Francis George. He was such a reverent man and willing shepherd. I remember when he led the Good Friday Way of the Cross each year and how one could feel Christ through him.
