Study groups in a conference about conferences. SMH. Has anything ever been accomplished in committee?

The above tweet/commentary is a clear demonstration of how the Lavender Mafia is Pournelle’s Iron Law of Bureaucracy in action.

“Why did the committee not list homosexuality as controversial?”

There are more possible reasons than “gutless, deluded control freaks”:
reluctance of offending homosexuals present,,, personal familiarity,,,, personal involvement,,, non belief in Scripture,, Modernist thinking,,, a majority are homosexual.

Right is right even if no one is doing it; wrong is wrong even if everyone is doing it.
~Saint Augustine

That Saint and his teachings might be a hindrance, but (s)t. James Martin to the rescue.

This bad circus side show will lead to the loss of many souls.
It is a maddening waste of time and pewsitters donations.

The internet has its strengths..
Watching the recent USCCB conference in Baltimore, and Strickland’s short speech, removed all doubt as to how feckless and corporate our bishops have become. As one commenter said “ I don’t think there was an ounce of testosterone in the room except for Strickland.”

Strangely, this gives hope. I think a battle is shaping up between orthodox-young men who become our priests and homosexual or inept bishops. Obedience, yes, but weak Bishops surrounded by stronger men should prove interesting.
Anyone who has played chess knows the bishop is a powerful piece on the board. But the queen is most powerful, and lowly pawns most often win the game.

“Obedience, yes, but weak Bishops surrounded by stronger men should prove interesting.”

Actually, all the stronger men have to do is wait until the 70s 80s and early 90s hippie priests go to whatever their reward is. Unfortunately, I won’t live to see it at least not this side of the grave.

They were given their miters because of their effeminacy. Strong bishops are outliers and integrity among them is rewarded with early retirement.

I’ve met some of these men (*might* even be raising one).
They ain’t gonna wait.

The generation that is currently holding them down says “obey, obey” however, their example has always said “do things, ask for forgiveness later (if necessary)”

None of the seminarians or young priests I have met employ word salad, mention synodality, or explain away miracles.

It is going to get interesting.

And who will these young priests look to as an example?
The same man that spoke at the USCCB and was ignored.

It looks like they didn’t say that homosexuality is not controversial, but they changed the name of the “controversial issues” section to “emerging issues”.

“You will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy.” – Obi Wan Kenobi

It applies equally to the Vatican and any gathering of the USCCB.

You’re probably right Optimist. They may have taken a vow of obedience, but the requirement to obey is based upon receiving clear instructions falling under the Vow. And they’ve spent the last 75 years teaching us that conscience is king so….

Reminds me of a personal experience. Many years ago when my youngest was probably three or four I had just finished refinishing a floor. I told her “you can’t go to your room right now.” She looked at me and with her best sweet little girl pose turned around and walked right down the hall over the finished still drying floor. I asked her with a significantly agitated tone something along the line of “what are you doing?!!” She turned around from halfway down the hall and said without a hint of concern..”I’m not going to my room; I’m going to your room.”

I turned around and looked at my wife with an exasperated expression and she said: “Don’t look at me. She’s your daughter. And you’ve always told her to be clear and specific in her speech. All I could do was laugh. It was worth the redo on the floor.

😃🙏👍

I love your story.

Beautiful.

A thought occured to me.

If your daughter was in bare feet the precious little foot prints could be just the most perfect signature of your special little girl. When her daughter, your grand daughter, walked down the hallway a beautiful story is retold and hearts are moved….again.

A redo was done, but the prints will always be fresh in your hearts and minds.
