The Democratic Party is an ugly organization with ugly dispositions. Obama added little to that bar some shticks you might expect from a leftoid who came of age ca. 1979 (the green energy boondoggles, toadying up to Iran) and features of his personality (secretive, spiteful, and lacking in gab and negotiating skills). The life course of both Obamas does tell us something about an element of the Bourbon class in this country and reminds us that there is far to much rent-seeking in today’s world. (The prosperity of politicians like Brandon Johnson, Zohran Mamdani, AOC et al, and (to a lesser degree, the Obamas) also tell us that much of the electorate has no clue why you might properly grant someone props for anything. (Though, if you want to hack off a partisan Democrat, recite the employment histories of both Obamas in plain terms).

One thing I’d like to see is the construction of a modular records center in Kansas City. We start out with seventeen modules connected by a concourse. A president leaves office, we construct another module. Each module is appropriately climate controlled and contains archives of scholarly interest culled from the current network of ‘Presidential Libraries’. We stop constructing the libraries and the National Archives turns their physical plant and residual chattels over to the county governments where they sit. If Cook County has any sense, this building would be auctioned to developers for demolition.

Jackson Park is a jewel in the Chicago Park System. It’s a crime that this monstrosity is located here. OTOH, with his popularity and financial support dwindling, Joe Biden’s presidential library may be a bookmobile.
Looking at photos of the Presidential libraries, some are worse than others. AFAICT, only the Nixon Library is handsome. put the memorabilia on dBay and sell the physical plant to developers.
