Go here to read the story. Pope Leo better start addressing these types of atrocities, or he will deserve the title I have heard applied to him: Francis II.
Cowardly Cupich
- Donald R. McClarey
Donald R. McClarey
Cradle Catholic. Active in the pro-life movement since 1973. Father of three, one in Heaven, and happily married for 43 years. Small town lawyer and amateur historian. Former president of the board of directors of the local crisis pregnancy center for a decade.
His Eminence is already past 75 years of age— so Pope Leo is at liberty to accept his mandatory letter of resignation at any time. If +Cupich becomes enough of a PR disaster, perhaps he might find himself without a job sooner rather than later…
Cupich who?
Has there ever been a time with more mediocre bishops in the USA than the past twenty-six years? Even now, with Cardinal Cupich, no bishop from a major see has said a word about this scandal. We get these lightweights that spend their time suppressing the TLM, as if that’s a more serious problem than abortion. This is a time where people are actually interested in the Church, and the slightest hint of Catholic truth brings them over. But nothing from the USCCB to encourage conversions to the faith, immigrants are the only thing that seems to interest them.
Follow the money, always. Senator Durbin had the money.
In the meantime, a certain Marko Rupnik remains free to move about Rome and elsewhere. You really can’t make this up.
It’s so very pathetic.
Gentlemen.
This is just a sign of our times.
Fr. John Hardon SJ predicted it.
So did Archbishop Fulton Sheen.
We plough forward.
We lead when leaders refuse.
We will receive the graces that they forfeited.
Onward and upward.
Maybe if we gave the grifters, also known as bishops, a nice per capita payment, out of public funds, for conversions to the Church, they would give a rodent’s rear end about true evangelization. That does seem to be their sole motivation these days.
Considering his list of “accomplishments” it would be a sad irony if what finally rid us of Cardinal Cupich was a dust up over a plaque and a rubber chicken dinner.
Strange times.
Narrator: “Leo XIV did not end up addressing these tyoes of atrocities.”
From the link;
“Bishop Paprocki also added that Cardinal Cupich did not consult with him before deciding to honor Durbin, despite Durbin’s being a resident of Springfield, where he has been denied Communion since 2004 due to his public advocacy for abortion.”
For 21 years Durbin’s Bishop has been honoring Jesus and protecting Durbin from self-inflicted Spiritual and Physical harm. Give the lifetime achievement award to Bishop Paprocki for goodness sake.
Leo XIV isn’t so much Francis II but more like Paul VII. He seems too timid to put his foot down. Leo XIV apparently doesn’t understand that most of the money needed to run the Holy See comes from the USA. Keep ticking us off and watch Peters Pence get ignored some more.
The pontiff addressed it today.
Cupich has the cover he needs.
Here it is.

What a vast disappointment Francis II has turned out to be. “Someone who is pro the death penalty can’t be really called pro-life.” Like almost all your predecessors Holiness? Two bum popes in a row, and I am beginning to think Francis II is a bigger dimwit than Francis the Worst.
“Someone who says I’m against abortion but is in favor of the death penalty is not really pro-life,” the pope explained. “Someone who says I’m against abortion but I’m in agreement with the inhuman treatment of immigrants in the United States, I don’t know if that’s pro life.”
“So they are very complex issues and I don’t know if anyone has all the truth on them,” he continued, “but I would ask first and foremost that they would have respect for one another..”
Complex issues? Where have I heard that before? Oh right!
Deporting illegal immigrants is now called ‘inhumane treatment’ by the Bishop of Rome.

Heckuva job Conclave of 2025. Heckuva job!
Bitterly disappointed by the statement of Pope Leo, it just proves that the boy’s club of Church leadership is alive and well. Heaven forbid if you criticize Cardinal Cupich! By all means, throw the unborn under the bus. Massive disappointment, I guess I got fooled, should have known Chicago Catholicism produces weak bishops (except Cardinal George). Well, I’ll keep praying for Pope Leo, but man, it’s hard to keep hopes up for any change from the disastrous pontificate of Pope Francis. Just incredible disappointment right now.
I wonder if the Pope knew this was coming:
“Senator Durbin today informed me that he has decided not to receive an award at our Keep Hope Alive celebration. While I am saddened by this news, I respect his decision. But I want to make clear that the decision to present him an award was specifically in recognition of his singular contribution to immigration reform and his unwavering support of immigrants, which is so needed in our day.” — Cardinal Blase Cupich
Matthew,
Cardinal George gave Fr Phleger, a Jeremiah Wright, Farrakhan, and Obama supporter, a lifetime achievement award in 2010.
“Someone who is pro the death penalty can’t be really called pro-life.”
All murderers are pro the death penalty.
All murderers are pro the death penalty.
All murderers are pro the death penalty.
The murderer inflicts capital punishment on his victim without jury trial, sentencing, innocent until proven guilty in a court of law and all other civil rights endowed by “their Creator” (Dec.)
This is the complex issue. The murderer deprives the victim time to make peace with God. The murderer scandalizes the victim through the homicide. The murderer did not choose me for the victim. The murderer must forgive himself and realize that death will bring him to God, his Creator and his victim’s Creator. Accepting the death penalty for homicide in the first degree is a temporal punishment belonging to the state of which the murderer is a part.
By not accepting capital punishment and forgiving himself the murderer contributes to the destruction of the state, the country and Justice.
It is said “Freedom is not free.” I agree.
Someone who is pro the death penalty is pro-life for the murderer’s next victim.
