News that I missed, courtesy of The Babylon Bee:
We are disgusted to learn that Disney has pulled Jimmy Kimmel’s show off the air simply for him being a MAGA Republican.
No one has stood for MAGA more than Jimmy Kimmel. Raised by a Republican family in a conservative area, Kimmel embodies everything MAGA stands for.
“We are horrified and saddened by the loss of a great MAGA voice like Jimmy Kimmel,” said Bee CEO Seth Dillon. “He loved Trump more than life itself. You simply cannot pretend he was anything other than a Trump lover.”

He who laughs last—

Kimmel’s cancellation was Just.. but we are in a dangerous time right now. Many will be tempted to “use the Power of the Ring”. Pray that temptation does not succeed.

Well, since Carson left, I’ve only seen two late night shows, both because I got tickets to the Tonight Show when Leno was there. One guest was absolutely disgusting in her comments (Tracy Ullman). Kimmel gets what he deserves, he thinks he is untouchable, but the truth wins out.Tracey Ullman Tracey Ullman Tracey Ullman
Gosh, don’t why all the Tracy Ullman’s appeared at the end, sorry, I’m the world’s worst proofreader.

Correct. It is one thing for a network to pull a poorly performing, expensive show that is buying them a boatload of ill will. Another thing if it is being done under government pressure. The commitment of the current administration to freedom of speech is underwhelming, albeit better than the Left, although that is like being the tallest munchkin.
I really wish the Carr interview had not occurred. I’m told by a friend, who spent 30 years managing a group of Midwestern TV affiliates of one of the old Big Three networks, that he has heard the owners of more than half of the ABC affiliates had already decided to replace Kimmel’s show with other material, and had so informed ABC, before the Carr comments were made public. I realize this is double hearsay, but this guy is not one to make stuff up, so I believe him. Any action Carr wanted the FCC to take should not have been publicized until it actually happened.
David Letterman once made a tasteless joke about Saran Palin’s daughter and ended up apologising unreservedly.
“I told a bad joke,” the comedian explained. “I told a joke that was beyond flawed, and my intent is completely meaningless compared to the perception.”
He then spoke directly to the Palin family: “It’s not your fault that it was misunderstood – it’s my fault. So I would like to apologise, especially to the two daughters involved, Bristol and Willow, and also to the governor and her family and everybody else who was outraged by the joke. I’m sorry about it, and I’ll try to do better in the future. Thank you very much.”
If you watch it back – Jimmy Kimmel comment was not told as a punchline for laughs. He was peaching to the crowd to push a narrative. The late Charlie Kirk was spot on. Kimmel is not funny.
I don’t think the general public mind if their side of politics is made fun of. Australians love to “take the Mickey” out of their politicians. In fact, it makes for some of the best comedy.
What the public gets tired of is the lack of balance. Especially when a comedian blatantly and persistently pushes their ideology through an agenda. Unfortunately, when they develop a reputation for it, as Kimmel has, for pushing that boundary they will eventually be held to account, because it catches up to them. It’s just business after all. They are paid to be funny. So they shouldn’t be surprised when they stop being funny and are…sacked.
The word on conservative radio around DC and on FOX TV is that over 200 affiliates wanted the plug pulled on Kimmel’s show because the viewers did not like his show. Not just Kimmel’s remarks re MAGA and Charlie Kirk’s assassination’s but for months and months the affiliates were losing viewers. It was not a funny show.
Nothing to do with Trump or FCC.
I have never watched any of these late night comedians. I never thought their stuff worth the time of me staying up after my normal bedtime. I don’t know anything about Kimmel except that he’s a liberal. And frankly, I don’t care. There’s nothing much on TV worth watching any more anyways.
I think CAM is right, this latest bone-headed nonsense was all the excuse they needed to unload some dead weight.
