another bit of history, we don’t seem to hear about. Certainly not at any Jesuit University.
It seems that Franco and the Flange is usually made out to be the bad side in the Spanish Civil War and the so-called Republicans as those who upheld true Republican ideals.
Jesus asked His Father in heaven to forgive them for they know not what they do.
When Jesus ascended into heaven Jesus presented redeemed mankind to His Father.
Jesus accepted the forgiveness that He asked for while dying on the cross for all mankind.
Many individual souls refuse the mercy and forgiveness from their “Creator” and live foolishly.
“Franco and the Flange is usually made out to be the bad side in the Spanish Civil War…”
Weeeellll…. I think it pretty difficult to consider Franco the good side. They WERE fighting to reinstate a monarch, after all. We, who rebelled against King George, can surely understand angst about a king. Franco’s rule was…iffy… about Catholic principles too. He’s known as a dictator for reason.
John, I am not whitewashing Franco. Maybe it seems like I did. Just seems to me that the Republicans were worse.
The USA would not have achieved the great things done by Americans without throwing off the shackles of the British Empire.
I read Crisis Magazine online regularly but I skip articles that extol monarchy. There are more important things in the world.
Penguins Fan,
I get what you mean. ..I don’t think there was a “good” side in that fight.
More like…which side stinks the least.
Franco’s side was the good side.
