I shouldn’t have left out seminarians, sisters, monks and just ordinary believing Catholics.
Burn of the Day

Donald R. McClarey
Cradle Catholic. Active in the pro-life movement since 1973. Father of three, one in Heaven, and happily married for 43 years. Small town lawyer and amateur historian. Former president of the board of directors of the local crisis pregnancy center for a decade.
The level of historical illiteracy we now see demonstrated in an allegedly educated population is truly mind-boggling. They know nothing about what terms such as fascism, anarchy, socialism, etc. actually mean, while they toss them around like confetti to signal their oneness with the leftist hive. SMH.
I have seen this kind of nonsense from a cousin who lives near Detroit. She posted a picture on Facebook of religious figures putting Indians to death. It was usually the other way around, but as Churchill put it, a lie goes halfway around the world before the truth puts its shoes on.
Today’s version of the Golden Rule;
• Do unto others whatever is necessary to grab their gold.
• When opportunities present themselves it is best to take full advantage and reclaim what belongs to you whether or not it causes harm to others. Everything belongs to you.
• Use people. Love things.
• You are a God. It is much better to receive than it is to give, unless your giving a beating to somebody.
• Lying and cheating to get what you deserve is normal behavior.
The above list is exemplified by the best of the Democratic Party. Yes. Their best.
And you wonder why anarchy is so popular?
Is anarchism the new “it” thing now? God help us.
The part where it always ends up with unbelievable cruelty and violence. That part.
I’ve really have reached the Old Geezer stage, I just shake my head and wonder at some of the things I read. The lack of education and a sense of history is mind boggling at times. Of course, the illogic speaks for itself, in what way is voting not “forcing a decision on someone else?” To think, most of us learned of the “social contract” of being a good citizen in school, even in public school in SoCal in the 70’s, that was being taught. I’m afraid to ask what’s being taught nowadays in school about the American social contract.
What bothers me is that the people who will soon be making decisions about their own lives were also the ones who were eating Tide Pods.
More seriously, however, what bothers me most about anarchism is the denial of Original Sin, which invariably means that the only way one can make decisions about one’s own life is by making decisions about the lives of others.
Lisa, *both* parts of anarchism scare me.
I’ve done enough bad things to be scared by the decisions I make for myself.
I’ve seen enough evil to be scared of people making decisions for themselves with no repercussions.
I don’t want an idiotic tyrant to rule my life, but I really can’t endure every person on the street with me being their own idiotic tyrant.
It dovetails with what I’ve said to Christians who are dismayed by the latest news of people behaving badly: Why do you expect people with no real connection to Christ to act like Christians?
I remember during my student teaching semester, in 2011 I believe, I taught Shirley Jackson’s “The Lottery.” I was shocked how none of the students could get to the moral of the story. They also refused to consider condemning the ritual, with one kid saying “It could have been a beautiful ceremony!”
I only lasted two years teaching.
Matthew:
The one good thing that came out of the Covid pandemic is that parents learned what their children were being taught in school. public and private.
Reading, writing and arithmetic is replaced by indoctrination into communist principles, LBGTQ+ and sexual behavior rather than moral behavior.
Education is teaching students how to think.
Indoctrination is teaching students what to think.
I learned our Declaration of Independence and our Constitution in the seventh grade.
Today’s students, if they can read are not informed of their civil rights as citizens.
In the old days citizens were able to vote for the school board and their salaries. Not any more.
Steven:
Without moral integrity our civilization is lost.
