Serious cred for anyone who can play “the Rach 3.”
Related: I once attended a luncheon given by an organization of supporters of the St. Louis Symphony where pianist Emanuel Ax was the guest of honor. We were able to talk informally with him after lunch, and I mentioned to him how much I enjoy his work, and that he makes it almost look easy. He thanked me and asked if I play, to which I answered “just for fun.” He said, “Then you know…it’s all hard.”
Yup.
My daughter is playing Rachmaninoff for her performance piece for High School certificate. Please pray for her, it would be greatly appreciated. This is one of the peices she is doing:

Ezabelle, having tried and failed to master that Opus 3 #2 Prelude, I have the utmost admiration for your daughter’s skill and perseverance. Prayers up!
Thanks Frank – perseverance is definitely required. And training the fingers to stretch those chords. God Bless.
