Sound Advice From Our Late Pope

If you do not live what you believe, you will end up believing what you live.

I wonder if “The Way” losts it’s appeal for some in the Jesuit order?
When the love of prayer fades the ape of God gains traction and could lead a soul into believing what you live, rather than living what we all believe. That being;
In God the Father almighty, maker of Heaven and Earth, And in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin, Mary….
Again, I’m just wondering aloud.
While I was at a Jesuit university, I got to spend some time at their residence. Every so often they would host a “game night”. Had a rip-roaring time from 18-20, but now in my 40’s I look back occasionally and think “whiskey tango foxtrot?”
To be fair, the older Jesuits were great – they still held to the core of their vows and mission, but they were also outnumbered by the more, shall we say, “worldly” (and younger) ones.
” … spend most of their time watching television and drinking whiskey.”
Is it possible to be a Jesuit and not know it? 🙂
CAG. Anagnorisis striken once again.
Thanks a bunch….now I have another monkey on my back.🥃🛐😵💫
New Oxford Review at one time published short memoirs of people who had been rejected by formation programs. One memoirist recounted his meeting with a Jesuit vocations promoter. He said the man asked him how often he masturbated and during the meeting ‘kept staring at my crotch’.
I received only one “C” in college, and it was in a course in Ethics taught by a Jesuit Priest.
That “C” did haunt me in early job interviews. “You got a C in Ethics?!”
But I am proud of that “C”.

The “Situational” was silent 😉
