Conclave Watch: Francis on Meds?

The need to present a reassuring and balanced face to the faithful. Now that Jorge Mario Bergoglio has passed away, I can say that people with knowledge have confided to trusted cardinals that Francis, even before his election, was already taking medication to stabilize his emotional and psycho-emotional balance. Have we experienced twelve years of a less-than-stable pontiff, insecure in his higher mental powers? Probably yes: the outbursts of anger, the verbal storms, and other similar episodes, well known to those who frequented Santa Marta, would confirm this. The serenity on Robert François Prévost’s face is reassuring.

Cathcon: this was the sadness at the heart of the Pontificate. Pray that he has found rest for his soul.

I said this previously, that we are going to really find out how much Francis was an aberration as time goes on.

I’m still waiting for a secret recording of Bergoglio blowing his top with a litany of profanities.

What kind of medical screening is conducted to become a priest, yet alone a bishop, a cardinal, or even a Pope? The statement above is disturbing: Pope Francis before his election was taking “….medication to stabilize his emotional and psycho-emotional balance.” Those who are going to be appointed to high office – political or ecclesial – should be given a medical and psychological examination to determine fitness for duty. This would do much to eliminate incompetence in both government and the Church. It is obvious from Pope Francis’ often inability to put two coherent thoughts together in one statement – his constant word salad – that he wasn’t in his right mind. By the way, the same can be said of Kamala Harris.

Just pray for Pope Francis soul. St Peter could have been considered emotional unstable. Yet Jesus forgave him each time he went off script. Maybe there is an argument to be made about his inability to fulfil the role as Pope…but he was Pope. And that period has now ended.

It’s now a time for new beginnings in the Church. That’s something to be thankful to God for.

LQC-
I am not eager to let the secular “scientists” determine who is mentally fit for the Church. They no longer classify homosexuality as disordered. How long before a belief in an invisible God is classified as mentally disordered? How many of the saints, even when medical profession was benign, were suspected to be mad?

“In 1991, when Father Jorge Bergoglio was appointed as Auxiliary Bishop of Argentina, a report by the Superior General of his Order, Father Kolvenbach, was needed. The response of Father Kolvenbach, based on the opinion of other members of his order, was that Bergoglio was not fit to be appointed bishop. Pater Kolvenbach claimed that Bergoglio’s psychological balance was lacking, that he had a deceitful character and that during his time as Provincial, he had divided Argentina.”

@ The Bruised Optimist –> thanks for bringing that up. I did not think of that. Modern day psychologists and psychiatrists are just as mentally unfit for duty as the persons whom they are evaluating. Sad, very sad. 🙁

It’s worth noting that the 25th Amendment provides a means to remove a President from office in the United States. There is not a legally required mental or physical fitness test to run for office, never mind be elected.
..There have been various occasions and debates dealing with this, some comical, some more serious.
I underwent a brief psych eval some years past when I considered seminary. It reminded me of the knowledge tests we all took as kids. Such made workable sense, though redundant. We need to know if someone can read and do math, sure. The “psych-proper” part seemed to me.. very subjective.
I would not wish to dismiss a priest, bishop, or cardinal on such grounds alone.
Never mind a pope.

Jo Jo the monkey boy almost made it to Nov.5th. If there was ever a candidate for the 25th Amendment it was the Monkey in Chief. Father of Hunter. Catholic in bad standing.

Good laugh is right Art Deco.

Well, that explains a lot. Also, it seems like the parallel to the 4 catastrophic years of the Biden dementia presidency.
