It seems European Elites are trying to convince the European populace that Americans are now bad just like Russians are bad.
The iron law of woke projection never fails..
Shattering the Euro illusion that they could forever have a military umbrella financed solely by the USA taxpayer, while simultaneously shafting said taxpayers with one-sided trade practices, was a good thing, Ms Appelbaum. But that doesn’t support your “hate America” narrative, so you pretend it’s somehow a negative.
Time to bring back the “America-Love it or Leave it” bumper stickers from the 70s. 😁🇺🇸
Europeans of dwindling moral compass and their counterparts on this side of the… Atlantic mistake justified anger for brutality.
Americans, at their best have been citizens of their government and subjects only of the Almighty. It’s a different mindset from either old school or new school Europe.
“…but because of what it told them about America, a country they thought they knew well.”
Yyyyeeeeeeeeaaaaahhhhhhh……
I wonder how many times since World War II our servicemen have kept their mouth shut while serving in Europe for the sake of…diplomacy???
It’s not surprising for Europeans to hold themselves in high regard, viewing America dimly. Three US Presidents and numerous Congressman in the last 50 years have given them ample cause. …and, too many academics eagerly praise the UN and peace. …while ignoring how thousands of (American) troops stationed overseas have guaranteed that peace. …and been critiqued as “ugly Americans” while doing it.
Europe has begun learning how admitting all of reality can be…unpleasant.
I’ve said it before – Europeans act like the refined (or snobby, if you prefer) parents who resent the less refined son for rejecting their society ways. He leaves and forges his own successful path and yet they insist the son “owes” them for the privilege of being their son.
Think I’ll go and crochet me a red, white, and blue coonskin cap. Or a reasonable facsimile thereof. Wish I had some old hippie fringe to wear.
Yes, I recall that over the past 70 odd years we have seen the protesters & activists crying, “Yankee, go home” – and other insults.
Now that America has said, “Ok, look after yourselves”, and obliged, the ungrateful idiots are still putting crap on America. To my disgust, many of my countrymen have been guilty.
Tough bickies, I say. 🙂
